The torch will be carried by about 10,000 bearers as it passes through more than 450 towns until the Games’ opening ceremony in Paris on July 26. Former Vanderbilt and Mississippi State quarterback Mike Wright is transferring to Northwestern for his final season of eligibility. Wright told ESPN on Thursday that he chose the Wildcats to play for head coach David Braun and new offensive coordinator Zach Lujan. "Those two guys were the main factors," said Wright, who made three starts last season at Mississippi State and 11 starts in his time at Vanderbilt (2020-22). Wright has completed 55.5 percent of his passes for 2,520 yards with 24 touchdowns and 14 interceptions across 38 career games. He has also rushed for 1,229 yards and 10 TDs. The starting quarterback gig is open at Northwestern with last season's QB1 Ben Bryant out of eligibility and former backup Brendan Sullivan transferring to Iowa. He is accused of falsifying internal business records to cover up hush money payments by logging them as legal expenses. He has pleaded not guilty.

The family of a Black U.S. Air Force airman who was fatally shot by deputies who burst into his apartment in the Florida Panhandle say they want to correct a false narrative put forth by authorities about his death. The family of Senior Airmen Roger Fortson planned to view body camera video later in the day. Civil rights attorney Ben Crump is representing the family. He says Fortson did not know it was sheriff’s deputies who were breaking into his apartment and that he grabbed his “legally owned firearm” to protect himself.
