New York Jets coach Robert Saleh has liked what he's seen from veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers during organized team activities. "For him to push the envelope and continue his rehab (from an Achilles injury), he has no restrictions and he looks good, man," Saleh said on Tuesday. "The arm talent, obviously, is still there. But it's really just re-acclimating to everything. We're trying a bunch of new stuff, too. Just trying to evolve within the offense." When asked if Rodgers is taking snaps under center and executing footwork on handoffs, Saleh was quick with a response. "He's doing everything," he said. Rodgers, 40, followed a celebrated tenure with the Green Bay Packers by playing just four snaps before sustaining an Achilles injury during his debut with the Jets on Sept. 11, 2023. On Tuesday, Saleh said Rodgers is checking the boxes as he continues to recover from the injury. "As far as we're concerned, he's on track and what he's able to do, there's no limitations to what we're asking him to do at practice," he said. A four-time NFL MVP, Rodgers passed for 59,055 yards, 475 touchdowns and 105 interceptions in 230 games (223 starts) for the Packers from 2005-22, compiling a record of 147-75-1. He made 10 Pro Bowls and led Green Bay to a Super Bowl XLV victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Jets' quarterback room also includes veteran Tyrod Taylor and rookie Jordan Travis, drafted in the fifth round last month out of Florida State. --Field Level Media

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani pleaded not guilty Tuesday to nine felony charges stemming from his role in an effort to overturn Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss in Arizona to Joe Biden. Giuliani appeared remotely for the arraignment that was held in a Phoenix courtroom. His trial is scheduled for Oct. 17, about 3 weeks before the U.S. election. His plea follows a not guilty plea by former Arizona Republican Party chair Kelli Ward for the same charges. Ward and nine other people were arraigned in a Phoenix courtroom on conspiracy, forgery and fraud charges. The Tuesday arraignments were the second held in the case.

The defense has rested its case in Donald Trump's hush money trial without the former president testifying in his own defense. The conclusion of witness testimony on Tuesday brings the trial one step closer to closing arguments, which will take place next week. Jurors have been sent home and will not return until next Tuesday. The trial is in its 20th day. Prosecutors have accused Trump of a scheme to bury negative stories that might have torpedoed his 2016 presidential campaign and falsifying internal business records to cover it. He has denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to all 34 felony counts.

Donald Trump’s lawyers have rested their defense without the former president taking the witness stand in his New York hush money criminal trial. The decision moves the case closer to the moment when the jury will begin deciding his fate. Trump’s team concluded with testimony from a former federal prosecutor who had been called to attack the credibility of the prosecution’s key witness, one of two people summoned to the stand by the defense. The Manhattan district attorney’s office called 20 witnesses over 15 days of testimony before resting its case Monday. The jury was sent home for a week, until May 28, when closing arguments are expected.

The United Nations says it’s no longer able to distribute food aid in the southern Gaza city of Rafah due to lack of supplies and insecurity. The humanitarian crisis has escalated over the past two weeks since Israel launched an incursion into Rafah, vowing to root out Hamas fighters. Troops closed the vital Rafah crossing into Egypt. Small numbers of aid trucks continue to enter northern Gaza via a crossing from Israel. Elsewhere in northern Gaza, the Palestinian Health Ministry says patients and staff were forced to evacuate after one of the last functioning hospitals there, after it came under fire from Israeli forces.

It’s so hot in Mexico that howler monkeys are falling dead from the trees. At least 83 of the midsize primates, who are known for their roaring vocal calls, have been found dead in the Gulf coast state of Tabasco. Others were rescued by residents, including five that were rushed to a local veterinarian who battled to save them. Mexico has been hit by a harsh drought and extremely high temperatures. Around a third of the country saw highs of around 113 degrees Fahrenheit, or 45 degrees Celsius, Monday. Lakes and dams are drying up, water supplies are running out and authorities have had to truck in water for everything from hospitals to fire-fighting teams.

The United Nations says it has suspended food distribution in the southern Gaza city of Rafah due to lack of supplies and insecurity. It also said no aid trucks entered via a pier set up by the U.S. for sea deliveries for the past two days. The U.N. has not specified how many people remain in Rafah after the Israeli military launched an intensified assault there on May 6, but they appear to number several hundred thousand. Abeer Etefa, a spokesperson for the U.N’s World Food Program, warned that “humanitarian operations in Gaza are near collapse.” She said that if food and other supplies don’t resume entering Gaza in “in massive quantities, famine-like conditions will spread.”
