At least one of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice's legal problems might soon be behind him. NFL Network reported Tuesday that the photographer Rice is accused of assaulting outside a Dallas nightclub earlier this month now wants the charges dropped. A police report from the alleged May 5 incident said that Rice punched a man in the face, resulting in "visible swelling." NFL Network said the man has since filed an affidavit to withdraw the complaint. Rice, 24, is participating in the Chiefs' voluntary offseason activities this week as he continues to navigate legal issues from two separate incidents. When the alleged nightclub assault took place, Rice already was in trouble in Dallas for his connection to a six-car crash on March 30. He turned himself in to police several days later and faces one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury. Seven people were left with injuries, including at least one woman who sustained "serious bodily injury" and another who was stranded on the highway with her 4-year-old son for about five hours after the crash. The Chiefs are bracing for a multi-game suspension for Rice, ESPN previously reported. The team and the league are waiting for the legal process to play out on both incidents. Rice was second only to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in catches (79) and receiving yards (938) as a rookie in 2023. He led the Super Bowl champions with seven receiving touchdowns. --Field Level Media

Three-time Pro-Bowl safety Jamal Adams is visiting the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, ESPN reported. Adams, 28, was released by the Seattle Seahawks on March 5 in a cost-cutting move. He was due a base salary of $16.5 million in 2024 and carried a cap hit of $26.9 million, per Spotrac. The Ravens feature Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams as starting safeties with little depth behind them. Adams made nine starts in 2023 and recorded 48 tackles. The 2017 first-round pick (sixth overall) has posted 494 tackles, 21.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and four interceptions in 80 games (all starts) with the New York Jets (2017-19) and Seahawks (2020-23). After recording 9.5 sacks in his first season with Seattle in 2020, Adams sustained a season-ending injury in Week 12 of the 2021 season and played in only 10 total games the past two years. --Field Level Media

The conclusion of witness testimony on Tuesday brings the trial one step closer to closing arguments, which will take place next week. Jurors have been sent home and will not return until next Tuesday. The trial is in its 20th day. Prosecutors have accused Trump of a scheme to bury negative stories that might have torpedoed his 2016 presidential campaign and falsifying internal business records to cover it. He has denied the allegations. He has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts.
PHOENIX (AP) — Former Arizona Republican Party chair Kelli Ward pleaded not guilty Tuesday in a Phoenix courtroom to nine felony charges stemming from her role in an effort to overturn Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss in Arizona to Joe Biden.

The jury was sent home Tuesday until May 28, when closing arguments are expected. Trump did not stop to speak as he left the courthouse and ignored a question about why he wasn’t testifying. Prosecutors have accused the Republican ex-president of a scheme to bury negative stories to fend off damage to his 2016 campaign and falsifying internal business records to cover it up. Trump denies wrongdoing.
France, Belgium and Slovenia have released statements supporting the world’s top war crimes court and its chief prosecutor’s request for arrest warrants for leaders of Israel and Hamas. Israel and the United States both harshly condemned the effort. International Criminal Court chief prosecutor Karim Khan announced his intention to seek warrants for both Israeli and Hamas leaders, whom he accused of war crimes. His announcement came the same day Israel said it would expand operations in the southern Gaza city of Rafah in its effort to crush Hamas. Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided a militant stronghold Tuesday in the occupied West Bank, killing at least seven and wounding several.
Leading artificial intelligence companies made a fresh pledge at a mini-summit Tuesday to develop AI safely, while world leaders agreed to build a network of publicly backed safety institutes to advance research and testing of the technology. Google, Meta and OpenAI were among the companies that made voluntary safety commitments at the AI Seoul Summit, including pulling the plug on their cutting-edge systems if they can’t rein in the most extreme risks. The two-day meeting is a follow-up to November’s AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park in the United Kingdom, and comes amid a flurry of efforts by governments and global bodies to design guardrails for the technology amid fears about the risk it poses both to everyday life and to humanity.

BANGKOK (AP) — A Singapore Airlines flight hit severe turbulence over the Indian Ocean and descended 6,000 feet (around 1,800 meters) in a span of about three minutes, the carrier said Tuesday, leaving a British man dead and more than two dozen other passengers injured.
